Review: Arambrook Boutique Hotel

A luxury escape from the hustle-and-bustle, exploring the stunning architecture and interior qualities of Arambrook Boutique Hotel.

Hidden away along the Liesbeek River in the leafy suburb of Bishops Court, Cape Town sits a destination set for tranquillity and luxury. Designed in a traditional architectural style, the hotel offers classical details, flowing interleading spaces, filled with an abundance of accessories and sumptuous furnishings. The interiors provide depth and layering due to the textures of colours, materials and furniture placements.

Upon arrival, you are welcomed personally by the General Manager, Mr Aubrey Ngcungama. The ground floor welcome lobby leads you to a comfortable lounge, where you can relax with a glass of wine or afternoon tea. The lounge, fitted with folding stacking doors spill onto the well-maintained gardens, providing additional indoor/outdoor space for a large function if the weather prevails.

The remainder of the ground floor accommodates an open plan dining and kitchen area on the one wing, while the other wing houses a well-lit library and a secondary intimate lounge space. The establishment houses 8 luxury suites, including king suites, a family suite and the cherry on top – the luxury presidential suite which we had the pleasure of reviewing. All the spacious suites are fitted with modern fittings, superior finishes and amenities that suit your preference. The interiors of the rooms are carefully decorated with a simple and clean colour palette of greys, whites, blacks and the slight pop of colour.

For guests dining in, you are escorted personally to the bespoke and intimate restaurant, headed by chef Stacey Lee Chan. The dining experience is carefully curated around your dietary preference. Thus, eliminating the need to page through a conventional menu, the chef creates dishes which aim to tantalise your taste buds while satisfying your cravings. We were treated to a healthy portion of grilled halloumi salad, followed by a generous portion of grilled sustainably sourced sea-bass fish, complemented by fresh vegetables and mash. Most of the vegetables used for the meals are sourced from the vegetable gardens on-site, making them extremely fresh and organic.

Arambrook certainly exceeds any expectations that one might have of an intimate boutique hotel. The tailored experience together with all the detail in the interior decoration and design make it a marvel for luxury and relaxation.

Vikash.
